about

Since clay is such a tactile material, my intent is to leave the marks of pinching and building for the viewer to see. Process is the most important aspect of my work so, by staining my clay before making, the colors are allowed to influence the form throughout the building process.  These blooming forms were originally influenced by the floral structures found in nineteenth century botanical journals, which continues to be a source of inspiration.
